Steve Carell is a member of the WGA. In November 2007, a writers strike began that stopped production of The Office. Steve Carell supported the strike and refused to cross the picket line, even for non-writing work. He went so far as to call in sick at the network saying “enlarged balls” was the reason he couldn’t come in.

Several of the show’s supporting cast members have written episodes for the show including BJ Novak (Ryan), Paul Lieberstein (Toby), and Mindy Kaling (Kelly). Michael Shur who plays Dwight Shrute’s cousin, Mose Shrute, is a seasoned writer himself.
The show began in 2005 and this year is their 9th and final season.
