This is a nice unintended consequence of the law. Belgian authorities recently made a huge drug bust where more than 8 tons of cocaine were hidden among boxes and boxes of bananas.
The police were able to catch the drugs in Antwerp before it reached its final destination on Rotterdam. However, they still let the bananas get there, where the police decided to donate the fruit to the animals of the Blijdorp zoo.
