Scientists are trying to recreate dinosaurs using chicken DNA!

Jack Horner had seven years of undergraduate study, was a marine, and a paleontology researcher for Princeton University. He then became a curator for the Montana State University’s Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. He then talked his bosses into giving him a paleontologist position at the museum, even though he doesn’t have his college degree. Over the past several decades, paleontologists, including Horner, have discovered that modern birds are descendants of dinosaurs.

There are so many similarities that scientists now say that birds are dinosaurs. Researchers have found clues that at least some dinosaur characteristics can be reactivated. They don’t know how it works, exactly, but Horner is determined to figure it out.

He’s attempting to make a “chickenosaurus” and has some seed funding. He’s waiting for some breakthroughs in biology and genetics that will allow him to take chicken eggs and make his “chickenosaurus.” In essence, Horner is actually trying to reverse-evolve a dinosaur.
