When Dr Seuss was having writer's block, he would escape to a closet filled with quirky hats!

Some people deal with writer's block by continuously writing, even if they are fully aware that what they are writing is terrible. Others try to take a break from writing, hoping that wandering around the real world will jog their creativity.

Dr Seuss, perhaps the greatest children's writer of all time, used to sit in a closet with his editor in chief. While sitting in this closet, the two would wear a variety of wacky hats. They would just sit and stare at each other until the right words for the book came to them!

Although it's remarkably hilarious to think of two grown men sitting on the floor of a closet surrounding by ridiculous hats, a lot of the hats in the closet made appearances throughout his books!

And even if his method of fighting writer's block seems stupid, it clearly helped him significantly.

Oh, and yes, Dr Seuss owned a hat that looks almost identical to that of The Cat in the Hat.
