Regions in Pokémon are based on real locations!
If you’re a super Pokémon fan, you might know that the world maps for each of the Pokémon games are based on real locations. Perhaps no relationship is as clear as with the first games in the series.
The world for Pokémon red / blue / green / yellow is called Kanto, and it is based on the real Japanese region also called Kanto. Tokyo and Yokohama are located in Kanto, and the game even replicates famous landmarks such as Mount Fuji (called Mount Silver in the game).
