The Taron people purposely decided to go extinct!
The Taron are a small ethnic group that lives in the Himalayan foothills on the north part of Burma. The Taron are known as the Asian pygmies. Their average height is less than 4’3”.
Their population is declining to the point where they will disappear entirely. The strangest part is that this is an intentional move by them. Apparently at some point in time, a large number of Taron babies were being born with increasingly worse birth defects.
The tribe leaders decided that they didn’t want to risk any more misshapen children. They imposed a ban on having kids, and even getting married. There are less than 10 pure blood Taron left, which means that an entire culture will die soon because they chose to.
