Ole Miss has the United States’ only legal marijuana farm!

The University of Mississippi has the only legal marijuana farm in the United States. For 35 years, its chief cultivator, Mahmoud ElSohly, has researched the plant and kept the government contract that gives the university the permission to cultivate the plant.
The US federal government pays Ole Miss up to $480,000 a year to grow the plant. ElSohly uses the money to research ways to get the plant’s medical benefits without the intoxicating high.
He’s currently working on a patch that releases the plant’s THC without getting you high and still gaining the medial benefits. He had a working suppository but it proved to be unpopular.
