Paul Simon lied to radio stations about the length of one of his songs! Why?

The single “Fakin’ It” was first released in 1967 by the duo Simon and Garfunkel. The song reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The writer of the song Paul Simon, however, had the lie to radio stations in order to get the song played. The reason he did this was because back then, radio stations would rarely play any song that was over 3 minutes long.

The problem was his song was 3 minutes and 14 seconds long. So, he faked out the radio stations by having the length of the song say 2:74 instead of 3:14. Learn more about the song in the source!
