The oldest country flag still in use is Denmark’s!

National flags are usually a point of pride for countries and their inhabitants. They originated from military standards and their first use outside of warfare emerged with the maritime flag. However, most country’s flags are relatively recent.

The oldest flag still in use is Denmark’s. They’ve had it since around 1370. The second oldest is the Netherlands’ from 1572. After that, there’s a big gap to #3 when the UK adopted its current flag in 1801. If you’re from the US, you might be thinking we’re wrong because the American flag was introduced in 1777. This is true, but every time the US introduced a new state, they added a star to represent it, and the latest one was added in 1960.
