As ridiculous as adopting an elderly person sounds, elderly people need to feel loved too. There was a growing problem in Milan; elderly people were beginning to feel unappreciated and unloved. This is a pretty big concern considering the fact that 24% of Milan’s population is over the age of 65. In order to solve this growing problem elderly people have, the city of Milan has decided to pay citizens for adopting the elderly! Families who adopt the elderly will receive 200 Euros a month and they just have to see them on a daily basis and include them in their leisurely activities!
Fortunately for the elderly, no one is abusing this system and just throwing the old people into a retirement home because the foster family will have to pay for it! Italy is treating these foster families for old people the same way they would treat a foster family of a child. Although the idea is a little bizarre…old people are awful cute. Who wouldn't want a third grandmother?
