There's a spider species in the Amazon that makes decoys to protect itself from predators!
A new species of spider has been discovered in the Amazon rainforest that uses bits of leaves and other dead insects to create large-scale decoy spiders that it places on its web. It uses them to ward off predators.
The people who discovered it describe first seeing this decoy as a collection of debris on a web, and they thought that it was a dead spider, but they saw that it was moving. Then they noticed that the spider was moving the decoy to make it seem like it was alive.
