Times can be tough, especially for teachers in Russia. Whenever the economy was suffering back in 2009, teachers in rural towns were getting paid their wages three to four months late. The classrooms they taught in often didn’t turn their heating on until mid winter when everyone was shivering. On top of that, almost all the lessons these teachers prepare are verbal because they don’t have any computers!
Thus, while the economy suffers the teachers are sometimes not even paid with money. They can be given rugs, pots, pans, gravestones, and sometimes even vodka! There you have it folks, vodka is just as good as money when it comes to getting paid.
