The Christmas tree in London's Trafalgar Square is donated every year by Norway!

This is one of those heart warming traditions that have endured for decades. Each year, the people of Oslo, Norway send the people of London a Christmas tree. They have done this since 1947 as a token of gratitude for the help that the British armed forces gave to Norway during World War 2.

The tree is actually decorated in traditional Norwegian style and adorned with 500 lights. The tree is a 50- to 60-year-old Norway spruce and is cut in November and sent to Great Britain by sea. The people of London have made the tree the center of their Christmas celebration around Trafalgar square.
