Bob Dylan offered the Beatles drugs because his misheard the lyrics 'I can’t hide' as 'I get high.'
On August 28th 1964, Bob Dylan introduced the Beatles to cannabis. The two entities were introduced by a mutual friend, writer Al Aronowitz , at New York’s Delmonico Hotel. When Dylan suggested that they “have a smoke,” Brian admitted that “[they’ve] never smoked marijuana before.” When Dylan asked about the song that goes “I get high, I get high, I get high.”
The Beatles then informed him that the lyrics are actually “I can’t hide, I can’t hide, I can’t hide.” However, the Beatles had actually tried marijuana in 1960 when an old drummer from another group offered it to them in Liverpool. They smoked it, and then went to the band room, where they learned the twist.
