Guess what that pink thing in the corner of your eye is for?
The Pilca Semilunaris was demoted by evolution. While it may now be a little pink spot where you can find “yuck” every morning, but it was a third eyelid. The membrane is still visible today in sharks, lizards, and even chickens. However, it is not completely useless for human beings either. It actually produces the aforementioned “yuck,” which is used to collect unwanted particles from the eye.
Body hair has suffered a similar fate. A few million years ago, the earth was much colder than it is today. Body hair used to help insulate humans from freezing. Body hair today however, serves no purpose, and therefore human beings are slowly producing less and less of it. Bad news for your barber.
