Ian Flemming wrote a children’s book.
In case you don’t know, Ian Flemming is the original author of the James Bond series. But that’s not all he is! He’s also the writer of a children’s book called Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car. It was written for his son Caspar. The book was inspired by a series of aero-engined racing cars called “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” built by Count Louis Zborowski.
Flemming’s book was loosely adapted as a 1968 film of the same name with a screenplay by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes. The film was produced by Albert R. Broccoli, co-producer of the James Bond film series. The story eventually went on to be a musical.
