Aerosmith bailed their fans out of jail!
Talk about loyalty to the fans. On October 3rd 1978, 30 people were arrested for drinking bear, smoking cigarettes, and possessing marijuana during an Aerosmith show at the Memorial Coliseum. Now, people getting arrested at an Aerosmith show during the 70s isn’t that big of a deal- but Aerosmith’s response certainly is.
As many of the audience members and crew were being taken away by the police, Aerosmith stopped the show and Tyler went on a rant. He hurled “scumbag,” “gestapo,” and general “f the police” type language at the cops. Then, he offered bail to anyone who was arrested. 28 arrestees accepted his offer and the band paid $4200 in bail and fines.
