Anyone who has ever eaten Kentucky Fried Chicken knows how deliciously addictive (not to mention fattening) it is. Founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1950's, KFC has become the world's largest fried chicken fast food restaurant.
But if you want to try to duplicate the recipe at home, you're out of luck. Famous for its "11 herbs and spices," KFC's recipe has become a trade secret that no one has yet been able to duplicate.
KFC says that only two executives in the organization know the recipe in its entirety, and they claim that no one has even come CLOSE to guessing the contents of the Colonel's original concoction. That doesn't stop people from trying though!
An online community has been created by devout chicken lovers in the hopes of cracking the secret. Forums such as "Operation 11 Herbs and Spices" attempt to decipher each ingredient while tweaking tiny amounts of each spice and reporting results in order to capture the flavor America loves. So far, the Colonel's recipe is still safe!
