All Lego made in the last 54 years fit with each other

Lego pieces of all varieties are part of one universal system. Despite alterations in design and purpose, individual pieces remain compatible with existing pieces. Lego blocks from 1958 still lock with those made today, and Lego sets for young children are compatible with those made for teenagers.

Each piece must be carefully manufactured to the point where it is can easily be locked into and taken apart from any other Lego piece. The main concept and development work takes place at the Billund headquarters, at the hands of approximately 120 designers.

The average development period for a new product is around twelve months and requires three stages: 1. Identifying market trends and developments 2. Designing and Developing 3. Marketing All this work seems worth it, until you remember the last time you stepped on a Lego.
