A man invented a robot that could write anything he wanted. The most amazing part is how old this invention is.
Robots may seem like a modern day invention. Not if you ask Pierre Jaquet-Droz though. You can't ask him because he lived 240 years ago, but you can check out the robot or "automaton" that he built.
Jaquet-Droz was a famous Swiss watchmaker, and he used his skills to make a writing robot. The machine looks like a life-size boy doll.
hAnd he writes with ink and quill. Inside the robot, is a series of gears and mechanical parts that can be interchanged depending on what you want the robot to write.
Decide which letters need to be written, fix those inside the robot and he puts quill to paper and writes whatever you choose.
