Update: Beyonce and Jay-Z were NOT able to trademark Blue Ivy's name
Earlier this year, we talked about how Jay-Z and Beyonce were applying for a trademark on their daughter's name (here). At the time, we mentioned that there had been other businesses with the same name. Still, many figured they would win based on the amount of money that the power couple has. Not so.
The US Patent and Trademark Office has ruled that they can't trademark the name. This is good news for the few businesses of the same name that have existed since before the baby was even conceived. For example, there's a Blue Ivy baby clothes store, and a wedding planning company of the same name.
