Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest videogames ever made. Is a platform game, published by Nintendo and developed by it's EAD division, for the Nintendo 64.
As one of the earlier three dimensional (3D) platform games, Super Mario 64 features free-roaming analog degrees of freedom, large open-ended areas, and true 3D polygons as opposed to two-dimensional (2D) sprites.
It established a new archetype for the genre, much as Super Mario Bros.did for 2D sidescrolling platformers. Hailed as "revolutionary", the game left a lasting impression on 3D game design, particularly notable for it's use of a dynamic camera system and the implementation of it's analog control.
This game also made history thanks to it's soundtrack. In Super Mario 64 a Shepherd Tone (a noise composed of sine waves that gives the illusion of constantly ascending or descending in pitch) was used in the soundtrack for the 'endless staircase' "to provide an unsettling feeling".
They surely created one of the most epic games ever!
