You may think that Hunter-Gatherer societies struggle to survive from a day to day basis, and all those societies do is hunt, eat, and sleep.
If you think that, you are incredibly wrong. A study in the 1960's of the Kung Bushman showed that particular Hunter-Gatherer society worked on average six hours a day, but never exceeding 8 hours.
The Bushman live in a particularly difficult climate, as they are located in Botswana, and the Kalahari desert in Africa.
Anthropologists have come to the general consensus that other societies, before civilizations started to form, would have had to have worked even less than the Kung Bushman because they would have had an easier climate to adapt in. The average Hunter-Gather is estimated to have worked just under five hours a day!
Not only did these communities work less, but they also had much more time for leisurely activities! This, is why Hunter-Gatherer societies have such a strong culture (or rather that's what anthropologists think).
