'The Godfather' cat was not in the screenplay!
Do you remember how Vito Corleone is affectionately stroking his cat while celebrating his daughter’s wedding in the “Godfather?” Well, that monumental image was purely accidental. Turns out, it wasn’t part of the original screenplay.
A speckled cat somehow made it into the set of the Coppola Classic and actor Marlon Brando (who plays Vito Corleone) found it lurking around.
He picked it up and began to play with it. The directors and producers were struck by the contrast between Brando’s intimidating demeanor and his tender affection towards the cat. Thus, the cat got his first acting gig as an extra on the film.
