Talkeetna is a small town located in Alaska with a population of 876 people.
Talkeetna is known as the base for expeditions to Mt. MicKinley. Tourist travel to Talkeetna each summer to fish salmon, raft and go fightseeing. Products from local artists, musicians and craftspeople are available in area stores.
Talkeetna counts with several great events, such as winterfest, which takes place during the entire month of December and features a motorized parade of lights, a lighted tree in the Village Park and numerous special events hosted by local businesses.
Talkeetna is a small but fun town, and since it is an unincorporated area it is not governed by it's own local municipal corporation. Therefore, the Coummunity Council decided to give the position of mayor to a cat named Stubbs. He has been the honorary mayor since 1997! That’s over 15 years of being in power!
