Edison Pena was one of the 33 miners trapped down in a mine in Chile for 69 days. Pena has a passion for two things: Elvis Presley and running. Every day while being trapped in the mine, he'd tie a pallet to his waist and run six or seven miles using the pallet to gain muscle and strength.
Upon hearing his dedication and love of running, the New York Marathon coordinators invited him up to run their race. He even had his boots cut down below his ankles specifically so that he could run. Even though he'd only run 6 or 7 miles at a time, he went and finished the 26.2 mile race.
At some points he hobbled or walked in the race and at the end he needed ice packs for his knees, but by golly he finished that race. He has some serious dedication and heart.
