The inventor of Cruise Control was blind!
Ralph Teetor was an American inventor from Indiana. He was the president of an automotive parts manufacturer The Perfect Circle Co. While the company manufactured piston rings, the man's greatest contribution to the car world is perhaps his invention of cruise control.
He got inspired by his driving a car with his lawyer. The lawyer would slow up and speed up. The motion annoyed Teetor so much that he created a speed control device in 1945. The device wouldn't be commercially available until 1958.
