Sears used to sell entire houses in a 'Do It Youreslf' kit!

Sears is a retail store, however the franchise's main focus is fine furniture and clothing. It might come as a shock to you, but you used to be able to buy an entire house from Sears - you just had to transport it and build it yourself. The DIY kit came equipped with plumbing, a porch, shingles, everything you needed to make a modern (at the time) house. These kits were typically sold from the early 1900's to the 1940's.

There are ways to actually tell if your house is a Sears house! You can check your plumbing pipes to see if there is an 'S' or an 'SR' stamped on every different pipe that goes through your house!
