Steve Irwin, or The Crocodile Hunter, was a beloved animal enthusiast and worked at the Australia Zoo before launching into fame with a variety of animal shows. He was famous for working with crocodiles as well saying, 'Crikey!' Whenever something unexpected happened.
On September 4, 2006, while filming an episode of Ocean's Deadliest in a small part of the Great Barrier Reef, the weather took a turn for the worse so Steve Irwin and his crew went closer to the shore and began gathering footage for his daughter's television show, Bindi the Jungle Girl.
After trying to get footage of a string ray, the sting ray stung Irwin directly in the chest which killed him almost instantly. It is the only death by sting ray ever caught on tape, and it would later be destroyed by the Irwin Family.
A plethora of international celebrities attended Irwin's funeral, which took place in the crocodile pit which he spent most of his time performing at the Australia Zoo. Hugh Jackman, Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, and the Australian Prime Minister!
