Dr. Seuss was afraid of kids!

Dr. Seuss is world-famous for his kooky, rhyming and often lesson-filled children's books. From "The Cat and the Hat" to "Green Eggs and Ham" to "Oh the Places You'll Go," kids of multiple generations have read and loved his books. So it may surprise you to know that Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodore Geisel, never had any children of his own.

Not only was he not a father, but Dr. Seuss admitted that children, "in mass, terrify me." So it seems that Seuss's real talent was not relating to children in person but teaching them through his books.

Seuss was dedicated to improving a flawed society. His stories fought against environmental ruin, greed, conformity and many other controversial topics. While they may seem silly or bizarre, their lessons were and are applicable to today's world. So while he may not like spending time with children, he certainly had a way of teaching them through his unique tales.
