If you have no debts and $10 in your pocket, you have more wealth than 25% of Americans
Wealth is unevenly distributed—throughout the world and throughout the United States. It is really really unevenly distributed. Six members of the Walton family, the family that owns Wal-Mart, have more wealth than the bottom 30% of Americans.
When you take into account debt, the wealth of many American families or individuals takes on a whole new light. In 2009, 1 in 4 American households had zero or negative net worth. This doesn’t necessarily mean this household doesn’t have any income, they could just have a lot of debt.
Hence if you have no debt and just $10, you very well could have more money than the lower 25% of Americans. Just count yourself a billionaire like the Waltons.
