Sea Sponges can be broken down to a single cell and reasemble themselves!
Sea Sponges are known mainly as the animal that SpongeBob SquarePants is - however hopefully that will change. In a recent discovery, researchers realized that if a sea sponge is sent through a sieve (a device for separating elements), that the sea sponge would be able to reassemble it's cells back together!
Sea Sponge cells, through an advantageous ability, are able to recognize each other and reform into small new sponges! Essentially, one sea sponge could turn into multiple sea sponges within a matter of hours! Sea sponges are the only plant or animal that is able to rebuild itself in this way!
