Many bars in Colorado are in dismay that a continuing legal fight between bars and convenience stores will result in them having to stop serving some of their most popular beers.
Popular brands like Shiner, Amstel, Heineken, and Michelob will have to stop being served at bars thanks to the measure. The reason for the ban is the state’s strange liquor laws.
Technically, only liquor stores have license to sell alcoholic beverages at or below the 4% level. Liquor stores are also forbidden from selling beers with alcohol content higher than that. The state is now just starting to enforce those rules and punishing bars that sell weak beer.
Many are calling the rules pointless and they hope that the state will just revoke the rules altogether and everyone will be able to sell beer with no arbitrary restrictions.
