The SR-71 Blackbird managed to outly 4000 missiles fired at it when it was in service!
The SR-71 or the Blackbird is one of the world’s fastest jets. It played a significant role in ending the Cold War and only 93 Air Force pilots ever steered it. It once flew at a speed of one mile every 1.6 seconds!
Coming into creation in the 1960s, the Blackbird served 6 presidents and was retired to the Smithsonian in Washington DC in 1990. The Air Force was experiencing budget cutbacks and could no longer support the fuel and maintenance the SR-71 required. On it's last flight, it traveled from Los Angeles to Washington in just 64 minutes.
During it's active duty, the Blackbird outran nearly 4,000 missiles and never once took a scratch from enemy fire.
