China can take counterfeiting to incredible levels. Take these 22 'Apple Stores' that the Chinese government cracked down on in 2011. After an American blogger wrote about his experience at the store, and how it was a 'beautiful rip-off,' they decided to investigate.
The stores had copied every single aspect of a real Apple store: From the décor, to the ambiance, to T-Shirts that were the exact same color. Even the lanyards were the exact same design as the real ones.
The stores were so realistic, that the employees themselves believed that they were working on a real Apple store. The blog post was so heavily shared that Chinese authorities took action and shut them down. It's unclear if the products they were selling were legitimate or from the grey market.
