Cumulus cloud weighs as much as 2.2 billion pounds

Clouds are weightless right? How else would they float up in the sky? Wrong. Clouds actually do weigh something. They weigh a lot. The most common type of cloud is a cumulus cloud, and the typical cumulus cloud can weigh 2.2 billion pounds.

This is the same as over 6,200 Blue Whales, which begs the question, how can these clouds stay aloft? The clouds, which are made up of water droplets are less dense than the air. There are about 1,000,000 cubic meters of drops in a cumulus cloud. When you add up the weight of all these droplets, it equals a lot. They're still less dense than the air though so they float--usually about 2 km above the ground.
