More and more states are jumping on the medical marijuana legalization bandwagon. These states remove state-level penalties for using, possessing and cultivating medical marijuana.

With the drug more available, you would think that instances of abuse and subsequent accidents would increase. Turns out this isn't the case.

States that allow medical marijuana have actually found a decrease in traffic deaths by nearly 9%. Medical marijuana laws are associated with less drinks consumed overall too.

More specifically, beer sales are reduced by about 5% because marijuana actually substitutes for beer. Looks like more states may want to consider medical marijuana legalization.
