Men are 92% of workplace deaths in the US!

The government keeps copious data on workplace fatalities and for good reason. The more we know about the causes and circumstances of workplace deaths, the more we can work to prevent them.

According to this data, some of the most common reasons for death are highway incidents, homicides, falls, exposure to harmful substances and environments, contact with objects and equipment and fires and explosions.

Men account for a disproportionate percentage of workplace fatalities. While men and women are basically split down the middle with both genders accounting for around 50% of employed individuals, 92% of those killed at work are men and only 8% are women. You can speculate about why this is.

Men are often employed in more physically demanding and physically dangerous jobs than women. Men are more prone to violence and aggression. Whatever the reason or reasons, this is a huge discrepancy.
