In 2005, 110 players won the Powerball by using fortune cookie numbers!

It was initially believed to be fraud when Powerball lottery officials noticed that over 100 people had correctly guessed five of the six numbers, yet it was completely accurate! On March 30, 2005, there were 110 second prize winners for the Powerball lottery, which was sold in 29 states and usually resulted in four or five second prizes given out.

There was a one-in-three-million chance of guessing the combination of 22, 28, 32, 33, and 39, yet all those who had eaten a fortune cookie from Wonton Food's Long Island City factory had come in contact with the numbers. The total second place prize was $19 million, yet so many people won each person only got $100,000 to $500,000!
