Studies show that pilots are less likely to correctly listen to warning systems that have female voices
Clear and efficient communication to pilots from within their own plane and from the ground is extremely important. In some cases, it can mean life or death for the pilot and all his/her passengers. In a study, researchers tested to see if the sex and/or tone of the voice giving instructions made any difference.
They tested urgent, monotone and whisper tones and both male and female voices. And the results were interesting. They found that the urgent and monotone styles resulted in the quickest response regardless of the sex of the speaker.
However, within the monotone and urgent styles, the male speaker resulted in the largest proportion correct and fastest identification.
