It’s estimated that as many as 600 adaptations of Pride and Prejudice were being worked on at the same time!
This week marks the 200 year anniversary of Jane Austen’s iconic novel; Pride and Prejudice. Pride and Prejudice laid the brick work for just about every single romantic comedy churned out by Hollywood. Despite being old and gray, the novel is still popular among readers for its honest and meaningful portrayal of all kinds of relationships. At one point in time, 600 Pride and Prejudice adaptations were being produced around the globe.
China has increased its output of Jane Austen adaptations by 400 percent over the past 10 years. And it’s not all just movie adaptations either. In autumn 2010, Disney opened a theme park called The Jane Austen Experience on a 50-acre site on the outskirts of Bath.
