In the late 90s, Saddam Hussein commissioned a Quran to be written in his own blood. Now, Muslim leaders aren't sure what to do with it--To write the Quran in blood was a sin, but to destroy it would also be a sin.

It is known as “The Blood Qur’an,” and is a word for word accurate copy of the Islamic holy book. Saddam Hussein commissioned its creation during the late 1990s during his term as president. He allegedly issued the book on his 60th birthday to give thanks to God for helping him through many conspiracies and dangers. 

He explained his reasoning for it a few years later: "My life has been full of dangers in which I should have lost a lot of blood ... but since I have bled only a little, I asked somebody to write God's words with my blood in gratitude." After his memorable fall from power back in 2003, the Blood Qur’an was removed from public display. 

Ever since it has been the focus of debate over whether or not to destroy it. Destroying it would be blasphemous, but its existence is also blasphemous. The best idea to come forth so far is to display it in a historical museum like the artifacts that belonged to Hitler and Stalin.
