Seahorses are the only fish with necks
Although you’ve probably seen seahorses in private aquariums, most people have never seen them in the wild, because they’re solitary and tiny. They’re being use as catalysts for conservation initiatives because they’re being held as poster children for vulnerable, beautiful species that are in danger if we destroy reefs and other habitats.
Here’s some interesting facts about seahorses:
- They’re the only fish with a neck
- They have a prehensile tail that can tie to a perch.
- They have chameleon-like eyes that move independently of each other
- Their coat can change color to blend invisibly into the background.
- Their snout acts like a plankton-vacuum cleaner.
