India is hosting the largest human gathering in history.
Kumbh Mela is a religious festival which occurs every three years. However, every 12 years, the festival is considerably larger and this years’ Kumb Mela is considered the largest human gathering in history. Attendance for the 55-day festival is estimated to be 110 million Hindus. Here’s some other facts about it:
- 50,000 police are helping keep order
- More than 1 million tents have been raised.
- There are 35,000 toilets and 4,000 urinals available.
- 165 tons of trash will be generated a day, they’ll employ 10,000 sweepers to keep it clean.
