There was a shrine so OLD in Ancient Rome that nobody knew the meaning of it! Here’s the story

The shrine is known as Lapis Niger, and is found in Rome, Italy in the area known as the Roman Forum. The shrine was built in 5th Century BC, although there was a point in time that none of the Romans knew the true reason as to why Lapis Niger was even there!

Some Romans believed that the Shrine was built on the burial ground of the first king of Rome, Romulus, or where he was murdered in battle. Another story was that it was the area where Romulus’ foster father Faustulus had fell in battle! The earliest writings that refer to Lapis Niger say that it was a meeting area for the early Kings of Rome! Learn the history of Lapis Niger in the source
