In the UK, children over 5 can legally drink so long as they are at home or at a friend’s house!

Here in the U.S. we wait around like poor schmucks until we’re 21 years old to be able to drink legally. In the UK, it is illegal to give alcohol to children under 5 years old. However, a child aged 5 and older can drink alcohol legally so long as they are in their own home or the home of a friend.

At the age of 16, the UK allows for you to publicly drink in a pub as long as there is an adult with you, but can’t buy alcohol; someone else has to give it to you. Then, at the ripe age of 18 the UK grants its citizens the ability to drink in public, buy alcohol, sell alcohol, and do what they want to alcohol. In the U.S. social services would be on your front step for giving a 5-year-old alcohol.
