The first genetically modified animal meal is going to be sold soon

A type of genetically modified salmon just cleared the FDA, paving the way for the first genetically modified animal to be sold in US Supermarkets soon. The FDA declared that the salmon is safe to eat and poses no threat to the environment. Critics, however are calling it a Frankenfish. You thought genetically modified crops were controversial?

If you choose to eat, however, you'll be eating an Atlantic salmon that has a growth-hormone from Pacific Chinook salmon. They also added a gene from a fish called the ocean pout that keeps the growth-hormone gene on constantly. This lets the salmon get big in a fraction of the time.
